International musicians visit new Armagh Music Department

Internationally renowned musicians Andy Irvine and Donal Lunny whose projects include ‘Planxty,’ ‘Moving Hearts’ and most notably, the highly acclaimed ‘Riverdance’, will be visiting the new music department at Southern Regional College’s Armagh Campus and performing live as part of a workshop for SRC music students.

Tying their visit to the College in with the Armagh Pipers Festival (12th – 15th November), these high profile musician’s, along with their band ‘Mozaik,’ will be sure to create quite a buzz among SRC staff and students.

The visiting musicians boast impressive careers and Donal Lunny has been noted as a pioneer in the evolution of Irish music over a period spanning more than 35 years. As a producer he has worked with artists such as Rod Stewart, Sinead O’Connor and Elvis Costello and has appeared as a guest musician both on albums and in session alongside the likes of Kate Bush and Christy Moore.

“We are delighted to host the performance and workshop in our brand new facility” says Paddy Craig, Music Department Coordinator. “SRC has invested hundreds of thousands of pounds to create an exciting and vibrant new music department worthy of the region. These visiting musicians provide the appropriate quality and standard to inspire and excite our students.”

SRC’s Music Department offers HND Music Production, National Diploma in Music and a National Diploma in Music Technology.
