‘To give everyone in the Borough the opportunity to be involved in the arts & creativity’.
Craigavon Borough Council’s Arts Development Team develops programmes to meet local need and often acts as a first point of contact for Artists and Community Groups.
We offer targeted projects as outlined below but also engage the local community in the delivery of fantastic events such as the Parklife Festival which took place in Lurgan Park in September 2009.
We have a range of programmes across Craigavon in urban and rural areas and we harness the creativity of local and international artists to develop innovative and exciting projects in local communities.
We continue to deliver the following ongoing programmes:
DV8 Arts
Engaging young people in creative projects which address anti social behaviour, personal development and community building
Regenerate
Artists working with people in local areas to improve community involvement, use creativity physically regenerate areas and change negative perceptions of the place
Artspace @ Oxford Island
A dedicated studio space where Artist and the community can come together to explore creativity, consider how the arts can enhance the environment and retain traditional craft skills in the area
Re-imaging Craigavon
Engaging communities in community development driven projects which address sectarian markings/graffiti, interface areas and the perceptions of cultural background within a range of communities
A programme of major events which involve local people in community arts projects and showcase their work in high profile events and festivals that bring a huge number of the public together to enjoy what they have created.
